Educational Process – Study Programme

The MSc Programme begins in the winter semester of each academic year.

To obtain the MSc degree, students must complete a total of ninety (90) credits (ECTS). All courses are taught weekly and, as appropriate, include lectures, laboratory exercises, seminars, field exercises, etc.

The language of instruction and of the Master’s thesis is Greek and, where appropriate, English (e.g., lectures by visiting professors), while the Master’s thesis may be written in Greek or English.

During their studies, postgraduate students are required to attend and successfully complete postgraduate courses, engage in research and write scientific papers, and prepare a Master’s thesis. The thesis is completed during the third (C) semester and is awarded thirty (30) ECTS.

The MSc Programme does not require an internship. 

Courses are taught in person, in accordance with the legislation in force and the provisions of Article 7 of the Internal Regulations.

Course lectures are delivered in person, while other activities—such as research for written assignments, review of instructional material, and completion of closed- or open-ended exercises—may be carried out using asynchronous distance-education tools. 

The student-assessment and feedback tools used in distance education are: (a) Exercises: production of closed-ended exercises (multiple choice, matching and gap filling); (b) Assignments: management, submission and grading of assignments; (c) Questionnaires: creation of polls and surveys; (d) Gradebook: recording learners’ grades; (e) Attendance register: recording learner attendance and absences; (f) Mid-term tests: helping learners improve their performance and achieve their goals; and (g) Statistics: user statistics.

The technological equipment students need in order to use distance-education tools may consist of a personal computer with an internet connection or a portable device such as a tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.

Structure of the MSc Programme

The Programme lasts three semesters:

• Semester A: Students attend four compulsory courses and one elective course.

• Semester B: Students attend four compulsory courses and one elective course.

• Semester C: Students prepare a Master’s Thesis (MT).

Special Regulations for the Implementation of E-Learning

All courses offered within the MSc Programme “Exploration and Sustainable Exploitation of Mineral Resources” are delivered in person.
