Mineral Resources Research & Sustainable Exploitation
Today, the geosciences are increasingly called upon to address complex challenges arising from growing societal needs and expanding human activity. Understanding these challenges—and promoting sustainable development to the greatest extent possible—requires a broad scientific perspective and the integration of diverse knowledge and skills. It is therefore essential to foster new interdisciplinary approaches and collaboration among specialized scientists capable of responding effectively to contemporary demands.
The establishment of the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment’s MSc Programme in “Exploration and Sustainable Exploitation of Mineral Resources” represents both a scientific and a societal necessity. The contemporary world is characterized by rapid economic and technological development, population growth and mobility, and accelerating urbanization. These trends generate increasing demand for raw materials and energy resources, intensified construction activity, mounting environmental pressures, and greater exposure to natural and technological hazards.
